| - Under the command of her first captain, Leland Bell, the Dauntless joined the Seventh Fleet in 2365. Her first assignments were routine - some would call them "milk runs." This changed rapidly when she was involved in a series of skirmishes with a flight of Romulan warbirds in a disputed area of the Alpha Quadrant. The Dauntless acquitted herself with distinction, holding the area until other Starfleet vessels could come to her aid. This action earned her first Unit Citation. During the unsettled period that followed, the Dauntless was assigned various tasks, including scouting and reconnaissance patrols. This invaluable service earned her a reputation and a nickname "The Seeing Eye." Completing her seventh year of service, the Dauntless returned to space dock for refit and equipment upgrades. At this time Captain Bell retired, and Captain Robert Wright became her commanding officer.
- The USS Dauntless (NCC-71879) was a Galaxy Class Federation starship in service during the 24th century. The Dauntless was commissioned in August 2365. Her first captain was Leland Bell. Dauntless joined the Seventh Fleet in that year. Her first assignments were basically milk runs. She was involved with several skirmishes with Romulan Warbirds. Dauntless held her position until Starfleet ships could come to her aid. This action earned her a unit citation. Dauntless was nicknamed the "Seeing Eye". Completing her seventh year of service Captain Bell retired. At this time Robert Wright became her commanding officer. During the Dominion War, the Dauntless fought at the Battle of Tyris, the Second Battle of Deep Space 9, the Battle of Goralis and the Battle of Cardassia. During the war, the Dauntless tracked a Dominion Battlecruiser traveling at Warp 9.92 to Avenal during a recon assignment. At Tyris she earned her second Unit Citation and battle honours by assisting the USS Lionheart rescue some heavily damaged Akira Class vessels from Cardassian vessels. Dauntless earned her third and final Unit Citation in the Final Battle while taking heavy damage she fought off four suicide vessels by the Cardassians. In 2376, she began patrolling the Badlands searching for hidden Dominion ships that went rogue after the war and refused to accept the surrender the previous year. She encountered twelve Attack ships, five Battlecruisers, and two Battleships in total hidden in the Badlands. She also began doing supply runs and escort duties to systems that were having shipyards, outposts, and starbases built. In 2377, the Dauntless was recalled to Epsilon Eridani where it was refitted Regenerative Shields and a newer, more powerful computer core. After the refit it began patrolling the Romulan Neutral Zone in case of Romulan incursions. In late 2377, the Dauntless was attacked by a Orion raider, however, it easily disabled it. In 2378, the Dauntless was placed under the command of Captain Jack Gore. On the Dauntless' first mission under Captain Gore, the Dauntless transported to the Pegasus Galaxy through a wormhole. In the Pegasus Galaxy, the Dauntless fought several unknown alien ships that attacked it. It also brought a nomadic space faring civilization with it back to the Milky Way before the wormhole collapsed. In March 2378, the Dauntless underwent a reconnaissance mission deep in Tholian space utilizing a classified cloaking device built in accodrance with Starfleet Security Directive 22. The Dauntless discovered a Borg transwarp conduit and promptly collapsed it to prevent any Borg ships from getting through. In August of 2378, the Dauntless recieved a shipment of Quantum Torpedoes to deliver to Starbase Deep Space Nine. In November 2378, the Dauntless rescued the surivors of the USS Excalibur and took them to Starbase 42. 2379, was an uneventful year for the Dauntless. Most of the year, it was sending supplies to colonies and outposts. It was at Earth when the Enterprise fought the Scimitar and brought it many of the replacement crewmembers during the Enterprise's refit and repair. In 2381, the Dauntless was sending supplies to the Xarantine outpost when it tracked a Borg Cube headed towards the USS Bhutto. The USS Dauntless was present at the Assault on Andoria in the end of the Borg Invasion. It destroyed several Borg Cubes using transphasic torpedoes built using the schematics provided by the Enterprise. In April, Captain Gore was transferred to the USS Sovereign to begin refitting and repairing the ship after the entire crew was killed. The Dauntless' new captain was Robert DeSoto.
