A Shriekbat is a species found in the Metroid series of video games. They first appeared in Metroid Prime for the GameCube, and would later be found in Metroid Prime 2: Echoes, Metroid Prime Pinball and Metroid Prime Hunters. The species can be found on various different planets, apparently spawning originally from Tallon IV. They're bat like creatures that will rapidly attack their opponents when spotted. They have a high body temperature and thus can be seen easily with the thermal visor.
