The Bā Xiān (English: Eight Immortals; Chinese: 八仙) are a group of eight people who have achieved immortality through the practice of the Dao. They are technically not deities, although they are often treated as such. Considered figures of good luck, they are important both to Taoist religion and Chinese culture. They are said to reside on Mount Pénglái.
