With PCW making it's return, it was known that Slamathon III would be one of the events taking place for the newly revived company. On May 12th, 2012, PCW General Manager James Baker announced that Michael Morrison would defend the PCW World Heavyweight Championship against Leon Lonewolf. The second match set in stone for the event was Draven Logan Kennedy defending his PCW Platinum Championship against Liam Reilly, although Liam was determined the challenger when he defeated Johnny Scumm and Ricky Runn in a 3 way match.

The second match set in stone for the event was Draven Logan Kennedy defending his PCW Platinum Championship against Liam Reilly, although Liam was determined the challenger when he defeated Johnny Scumm and Ricky Runn in a 3 way match. Another match was determined when Ryan "The Reaper" Robinson issued an open challenge for the pay-per-view after signing a contract with PCW. That same night he signed, Syn along with his brother Kai were revealed as new PCW signees. On the June 9th edition of Rapture, Syn was the one who accepted the open challenge, reigniting the long standing rivalry between the two dating back to when WKF was open. On the May 26th edition of Rapture, it was confirmed that the Scars of Wrestling Cup would make it's return and on June 9th, Adrien Cochrane, Landon Crabtree, Nightrain and Heather Monroe were determined as the four competitors of this match. More matches that were added, such as Fallon Reeves versus Jay Thunder. Fallon and Jay had words directed towards one another. Fallon determined Jay as a weakling and trashed who he was; Jay responded back by stating that he was going to make Fallon feel pain - James Baker was compelled to make the match between them. Tag Team matches that are implications on the upcoming tournament were made. Hana Brightly and Mindy Alexandrov were paired up as a team to take on Lucas Silva and Scarlett Quinn in what is a preview of what's to come. Also as an implication, Alexis Landry and PCW Hall of Famer J.T. Banks team up to go against The Bull and Ape Alliance and The Jobbers for Hire in a triple threat tag team match to determine who gets a spot in the tournament. Two more separate matches were made, but both of them have the same implications. Elite teammates and former PCW World Champions Sickboy and Yoshiru Long are made to compete against unknown opponents and if they win - they gain contracts with the company.
