For many years, state-sponsored militaries have struggled to maintain and modernize their forces. Increasing budget restrictions and difficulties in recruiting skilled personnel have led many countries to seek other solutions. More and more nations now rely increasingly on Private Military Companies (PMC) – elite mercenary groups staffed with equally elite personnel - to support their field operations.

The legend tells that DuCaine did so with a seemingly normal goalie mask that transforms into a high-tech mask. With it, DuCaine sent the Saurians to a mysterious dimension, known only as "Dimensional Limbo".

A spy from the 'Dark Embrace' has seen them finding the object and reports to Lashela about it. The rest of the good horde sense the object being found and they set up a group as well to retrieve and destroy it, not wanting it to fall into the wrong hands. Within the alliance a party is set up as well, after being notified by the restless demons in the Blasted Lands that the object has been found.

As such, the writers had to make up stories and dialog out of whole cloth.

PMCs have proven to be excellent partners in respect to efficiency, skills, low prices, and reliability. They’ve been able to fulfill most of the mission normally handled by regular armies, without risking political fallout. In time, these private military corps diversified their field of operations, from mere securing land objectives to motorized assault and counter-intelligence. It was not long before a few of these PMC secured enough resources to require being involved complete support air and sea-bound operations. With each passing year, the PMCs expand their influence and scope of activity. Initially just consultants, they are now involved in surveillance, logistics, site security, and other essential roles. In order to keep the war machine going most of the PMC warranted firms dealing with other sources of income such as mining, oil extraction, airliners, goods manufacturing etc. Ensuring a steady flow of currency allowed these companies to operate a tighter game against their opposition. Each year, they come closer to serving as fully operational field units, and their services are so widely used they’re already essential. Pandora’s Box has been opened. There’s no getting rid of the PMCs now.

The legend tells that DuCaine did so with a seemingly normal goalie mask that transforms into a high-tech mask. With it, DuCaine sent the Saurians to a mysterious dimension, known only as "Dimensional Limbo". As it turns out, the legends ended up being true. The last of the Saurians escape Dimensional Limbo and return to Puckworld with an armada of robotic attack ships. The group of four is led by the last of the Saurian Overlords, Lord Dragaunus. They invade the planet, enslaving the people of Puckworld so that they can produce more weapons to conquer the universe. However, a resistance was formed by Canard, a brave duck who found The Mask of Drake DuCaine in a tomb in the mountain called Twin Beaks. With it, the wearer of the Mask could see through the Saurians' invisibility cloak. Canard formed a band of Ducks to fight Dragaunus. The members of his team consists of Wildwing Flashblade, Nosedive Flashblade, Tanya Vanderflock, Duke L'Orange, Mallory McMallard and Check "Grin" Hardwing. They go on a mission to destroy Dragaunus's fortress the Master Tower and free the planet from the Saurians' control. However, Dragaunus and his forces escape in their ship, the Raptor. The Saurians opened up a dimensional gateway and did the same thing that they did to escape Dimensional Limbo, attempt to escape through it. But Canard and the others followed him into the portal with the Aerowing, intent on capturing him and returning him to where he belongs and return home victoriously. Dragaunus finds out that they're following him, attempts to get rid of the Ducks inside the portal by attacking them with an electromagnetic worm that will grow until it can swallow the Aerowing. In a desperate attempt to get rid of the worm, Canard sacrifices his own life by throwing himself to the worm. The plan succeeds, but at the price of Canard being devoured by the worm and never being seen again (except for in the episode "Take Me to your Leader", though this was Chameleon disguised as Canard to lure the ducks into a trap). Luckily, Canard gave the Mask and the leadership of the team to Wildwing Flashblade, his best friend. Both the Raptor and the Aerowing leave the portal and enter a different dimension, landing on Earth. The Ducks meet Phil Palmfeather, a human who becomes their manager and makes them a legitimate NHL team. Their arena, only known as The Pond in the show, has a hockey rink that doubles as a landing pad for the Aerowing above and has a formal HQ below. On Earth, the Ducks and Dragaunus continue their fight, although there are other villains that also challenge the six Ducks. The Ducks and Saurians that landed on Earth are the only ones seen except in some flashbacks done by Grin when speaking of his past and one Lucretia DeCoy who was a traitoress to the race of the Ducks and a spy for the Saurians. There was no mention of any girlfriends, boyfriends from the other ducks. Falcone was the only Raptrin seen in the series.

Within the alliance a party is set up as well, after being notified by the restless demons in the Blasted Lands that the object has been found. Elizabetha and Stoen can't get a team together so they ask the Scarlets, telling them about the object. Refusing to help, but now informed of the whereabouts of the object, they send the gnome Montywort follow the two and try and steal the object from them as they go. Berdrin hears of the first alliance team and does not trust them. When Stoen and Elizabeth visit him for advice, he takes the artifact to put it away so it won't fall in the wrong hands. But when he is about to hide it, he overhears a conversation by Wheeler that the artifact and the one in Ironforge will be given to the alliance team, and Berdrin rushes to collect the second artifact to give to Elizabeth and Stoen, instructing them to guard them with their lives. Confused, the two head to Stranglethorn, unsure what Berdrin meant and unaware Monty has been watching them. Meanwhile, the crimminal guild Wild Rose Society, has been hired by a mysterious woman to retrieve the five objects. The alliance group decide on random luck to go to Stranglethorn and search there, just as both the horde teams and the Scarlets. They accidentally meet up at a random Troll ruin, where they discover they are all after the same thing, finding all artifacts and soon battle follows. Stoen and Elizabetha stumble upon them, shrug, and find the third artifact by accident. They see the spirit of Davinrad, who tells them to go to Dalaran. Monty hears this, and tells each group a lie about where the third artifact is, the furthest away from eachother and Dalaran as he can think of. Elizabetha and Stoen arrive at Dalaran, where they are told to speak to Illidor in Darnassus. The Evil team was told by Monty to go to Auberdine, and the two are quickly spotted upon arrival. In Darnassus, the two are told by Illidor to toss the artifacts into Blackrock's lava and destroy them once and for all, handing them the fourth artifact, the fifth also being at Blackrock. On their way back to Auberdine they are cornered by The Dark Embrace but quickly saved by the Cenarion Guardians and the spirit of Davinrad. Monty sees it and frightened, he accidentally ports himself to someplace far (he had trouble with his portals before). In Rutheran they are cornered again by the Evil horde guilds, but this time Stoen makes a portal and they zip out. The remaining groups arrive at their destinations and find nothing there. The spirit of Davinrad apears to each one, and gives them brief instructions. From there they travel back through the Barrens and 'accidentally' stumble across each other again. Another battle ensues, but Davinrad interrupts to tell them to hurry up to their desitination. Stoen and Elizabeth run to the boat, chased by the evil guilds that cornered them at Rutheran and Darnassus, who are in turn chased by the Cenarion Guardians. All teams now join in the chase. As they pass the Wetlands, the Cenarion Guardians are stopped in their tracks by a group of wandering artists, who demand pay for their work, thus stalling them. The other guilds quickly surpass them in the race to Blackrock. Arriving finally at Blackrock, the two find the last artifact, but the evil guilds apear demanding the artifacts. However, the good horde apears, and seeing the unbalanced oposition, attack the evil guilds. The others arrive and again the five chasing teams erupt in battle over the artifacts. Wheeler appears and demands the artifacts from Stoen and Elizabeth, but not him but Monty pries them out of their hands. A tauren accidentally pushes him into the lava and the three watch him fall, thinking it is over. They hear the sound of a Blink and fear he got away with it. But it soon turns out that it only Monty ported away and the artifacts fell down and all ends well. The story ends with celebrations.
  • Samurai Pizza Cats also known as the English dub of Kyattou Ninden Teyandee (キャッ党 忍伝 てやんでえ, Cat Ninja Legend, What Are You Talking About?!"), licensed by Saban, who didn't manage to get transcripts of the original anime dialog (or just horribly translated scripts, according to the writer). As such, the writers had to make up stories and dialog out of whole cloth. As for the plot: the eponymous Cats are the owners/employees of a pizza parlor, who defend their city and the royal family (pushy, spoiled Princess Violet [Usa-Hime], and her demented father, Emperor Fred [Shogun Tokugawa Iei-Iei]) from the machinations of the villainous fox the Big Cheese (Ko'on-no-Kami). Between the giant robots, the Ninja Crows and the, um, peculiarities of their emperor, this is both harder than it sounds and easier than it ought to be. While the plots can be a bit formulaic, most of the show's appeal comes from the humor and the lame puns (some main characters being Speedy Cerviche [Yattarou], Guido Anchovy [Sukashii], Polly Esther [Pururun] and "Big" Al Dente [Wanko-no-Kami]), and an astounding number of running gags. The show is notable for being perhaps the only heavily edited, rewritten and hacked-up anime dub which fans actually prefer to the original. Whereas the original show is merely a cute kids' action cartoon, the English Pizza Cats is chock full of sly references, shameless puns, rapid-fire sardonic humor, and a total refusal to so much as acknowledge the fourth wall. Kyattou Ninden Teyandee was made for television outside of Japan in 1990/91 by producer Andy Thomas for Saban International and featured an all Canadian cast of vocalists (and a few behind the scenes people too). When the show was made for English television it wasn't translated (Thomas didn't even look up the proper spelling for Samurai - thus we get Samurai, which is funny all the same!). The original dialogue and sound track was kept from everyone (except Thomas) and they created an entirely new show (but some things had to be kept the same because you can't change the cause and effect responses embedded in the cartoon). The writers were given the animation, re-arranged a bit by Thomas so that they couldn't do a carbon copy translation it if they wanted - and that's all they had to work with. Andy Thomas came up with the title Samurai Pizza Cats, re-named all the characters; making them international so to speak ~ Speedy after the Mexican theme Speedy Gonzallez, Guido's name is Italian, and Polly... she's named after Andy Thomas's sister! The bad guy's names became puns of sorts - Bad Bird's name is self explanatory, Jerry Atric is a pun on the medical term Geriatric which refers to an old person, and Big Cheese is a slang term given to a person in a position of power. It was set in Little Tokyo. Andy Thomas came up with the idea of having the narrator be a know-it-all, providing some direction, communication, explanation and hilarious comic relief!
