As a child, Cecilia alternated her time between keeping up with her twin Justinian and the friends they shared, and burying her nose in starship manuals and treatises on engine building and design. Her parents fostered her love of technology, doing their best to afford her as many opportunities as possible to learn ever more about what she figured out early on that she loved. At the age of fifteen, she was admitted to the University on a full scholarship, diving straight into a heavy course-load of physics, starship design, hyperspace technology, and engine maintenance and design. For the first year, everything was nearly perfect. She was one of the top students in her class, shouldering both her own class work and the duties of tutoring those students who sought her out for assistance she was only too willing to give. One of those fellow students was Rhys Addlaith, a few years older than Cici, but seemingly willing to ask for help with their theoretical hyperspace design work. It wasn't long before a romance blossomed between the pair, and Rhys was suddenly everywhere by her side, the very picture of the perfect gentleman. Almost a year later, well into her second year at the University, Cecilia became pregnant. It was then that things began to change by degrees too small for her to notice, yet obvious to those around them, especially to Justinian, who knew her better than anyone else. Within the span of a few months, Cici had formally withdrawn from the University and married Rhys, moving into his apartment with him with visions of an idyllic family life in her head. Once she'd had the baby, she could re-enroll and slowly finish the degrees that had been her life-long dream. Rhys methodically and seemingly effortlessly destroyed her plans and her dreams. Once Cecilia had been 'secured', the gentleman disappeared and left the monster in his place. He soon controlled every moment of her day with a durasteel grip, dictating her schedule and what little social interaction he permitted her in terms that were not to be argued with. With her family looking in helplessly from the outside, Cici offered excuses and placed the blame solely on herself. He hadn't meant to hit her, it was her fault for failing at the task he demanded of her. He didn't intend to be so controlling, it was just that she needed so much help to manage keeping their life in the perfect working order he needed. Their first daughter, Emma, arrived to the world ahead of schedule, Cici's labor brought on after he'd thrown her down the narrow stairs of their apartment building. Emma was joined by Brianne two years later, another early labor brought on by Rhy's displeasure. The girls were small for their respective ages, and even as infants and toddlers, painfully quiet. They tiptoed around their father, and Cici did her best to keep them out of his sight as much as possible. When she could safely spirit them out of the apartment, she took them to see Justinian and their best friends Themis and Angelique as often as she took them to visit her parents. Just after Emma's fifth birthday and Brianne's second, everything finally reached the breaking point. Rhys arrived home from work in the middle of the day, having been fired for making threats against his supervisor, which he reasoned he wouldn't have done if Cecilia had done her part and kept the girls quiet the evening prior. In a blind rage, he tore into the apartment and went after Emma, who was clinging to Brianne's hand. Cici managed to get between them, and the girls ran to hide in their small room, taking their mother's comlink as they'd been taught in the case of an emergency. While Emma called Justinian, Rhys beat Cecilia until she was an inch from death, saved only by the timely arrival of Themis and several other security officers from the nearby precinct. He was taken into custody and she was rushed to the University Medical Center, where it was several days before she awoke from her medically induced coma and time spent immersed in bacta. It took four years for her to fully recover from her injuries, and for therapy to work through the broken psychological state she'd been left in. Cici took solace in her daughters and her family, and used work as a coping mechanism. She worked as a mechanic on everything from speeders to starships to put herself through school, earning the degrees in starship engine design and hyperspace physics that she'd given up on years before. While she was thrilled with the accomplishment of her dream, working as a mechanic had become her passion. Cecilia followed in Justinian's footsteps and enlisted in the New Republic Navy, demonstrating a work ethic and an almost encyclopedic knowledge of engines and proper maintenance and repair. She is currently serving as the Mechanic to Red Squadron, transferring over from the Rogues when her twin was given his command.Family
