  • Raksha (yes, that is her legal name) was a prominent figure in Transformers fandom, circa the mid-1990s. She was controversial due to her opinions and actions supporting (her view of) the Decepticons in the original cartoon and intense dislike for later media, such as Beast Wars. She organized BotCon 1995, and created the Nightracer character. She has recently become active in fandom once again, after a lengthy hiatus.
  • Raksha the Demon (or Mother Wolf as initially named) was a female Wolf, member of the Seeonee pack, who while suckling her own cubs decides also to adopt a human "cub" that her mate Father Wolf had found wandering in the jungle, naming him "Mowgli" (which means "frog" in the Speech of the Jungle) because of his hairlessness. Defying the tiger Shere Khan, who was determined to eat the man-cub, she revealed that her name was Raksha (which means "protection") because of her ferocity as a fighter, and she would fight to the death for any of her cubs, natural or adopted.

  • In Hindi, Raksha means 'protection'. This word is derived from the Sanskrit language. Raksha is the basic spirit with which the festival Rakshabandhan is celebrated in India. In this festival, a sister ties a string, known as Rakhi, around the wrist of her brother, asking him to protect her. The brother reciprocates by gifting his sister a present and renewing his vow to protect her. In Rudyard Kipling's Jungle Book stories Raksha the Demon is the name of the Mother Wolf who adopts the 'man-cub' Mowgli.
  • Raksha was originally a servant bred by the Brotherhood of Makuta, working to infiltrate enemy territory and assassinate high priority targets such as Turaga, Order members and certain Toa who had proven to be troublesome. She also did special "inside ops" for Teridax, such as assassinating or subduing power rivals or traitors within the Brotherhood. However she was completely oblivious to the fact that she worked with evil, as she had been told by Teridax, her "creator", for as long as she could remember, that it was the BoM who were fighting for good, and that the Turaga, Toa and the Order were the ones oppressing the Matoran.
