Hotzenplotz is a crime lord living in the outlaw village of Lawenilothehl. He is instrumental in three quests, two of which he assigns and one of which is to kill him. It's wise to keep Tywat Pare out of the fight though, as Hotzenplotz will quickly kill him in a fight, and Tywat is needed alive to yield the reward. When killed, he typically drops from 1500 to 6000 gold pieces. The character's name is possibly a reference to the German children's book "Der Räuber Hotzenplotz", by Otfried Preußler.

Only chaotic and evil people would go to him, and also they must be pretty strong... The question is, will you?

Description
  • Hotzenplotz is a crime lord living in the outlaw village of Lawenilothehl. He is instrumental in three quests, two of which he assigns and one of which is to kill him. It's wise to keep Tywat Pare out of the fight though, as Hotzenplotz will quickly kill him in a fight, and Tywat is needed alive to yield the reward. When Hotzenplotz is attacked, his two half-orc bouncers, Grunge and Munge, will become hostile as well. Attacking Hotzenplotz will cause most of the inhabitants of Lawenilothehl to become hostile, with the exceptions of Barnabas,Yergius and Kranf Niest. It is advisable to lure Skriek out of town before attacking Hotzenplotz, both to avoid his participation in battle and to keep him as a source of keys. Hotzenplotz attacks with poison and bypasses PV, combined with a high hit chance, making him a deadly foe in melee for any early game PC, even if they specialize in melee and are poison resistant - using a wand or archery is strongly advised unless the PC is already well past level 10. Doing the Kill Kranach quest first is a possible source of ammunition; collecting arrows from Kranach's party is very safe when there's only Kranach and a couple of raiders left. PCs that collect enough ammunition should not run out of it when training to Level 5 with bows and while fighting Hotzenplotz. Hotzenplotz does not heal quickly , so his HP can be chipped away gradually using missiles or rocks while constantly running from him so he doesn't get near. The Long Stride talent, Quick talent, Athletics or high Dexterity can help the character move faster, thus making the job much easier. Aiming for the square behind him on the first attack prevents the PC's alignment from dropping . Positioning the PC on the other side of the lake can also help keep him at bay. Also, if the village is exited anywhere the PC will appear on the left upon re-entering, which can be used to your advantage as well. It is thus advantageous to fight as far away from the left edge as possible, so escape is always possible. When killed, he typically drops from 1500 to 6000 gold pieces. The character's name is possibly a reference to the German children's book "Der Räuber Hotzenplotz", by Otfried Preußler.

PCs that collect enough ammunition should not run out of it when training to Level 5 with bows and while fighting Hotzenplotz. Hotzenplotz does not heal quickly (and not at all while the character is off the level), so his HP can be chipped away gradually using missiles or rocks while constantly running from him so he doesn't get near. The Long Stride talent, Quick talent, Athletics or high Dexterity can help the character move faster, thus making the job much easier. Aiming for the square behind him on the first attack prevents the PC's alignment from dropping (despite the absence of any lawful authorities, it is apparently still considered wrongful justice to attack him, even though actually killing him is more lawful than attacking him in the first place). Positioning the PC on the other side of the lake can also help keep him at bay. Also, if the village is exited anywhere the PC will appear on the left upon re-entering, which can be used to your advantage as well.
