Charlie is a character in A Just Edge. He is the self-proclaimed rival of minor character Alex, and later makes several appearances attacking random people with his Pokémon and/or riding his Porygon around like a horsey. He somehow also got into the tournament, showing that if he can do it, so can you. Even so, he is utterly slaughtered in the tourney, as his opponent is able to sweep his entire six-Pokémon team with a Starmie. By the end of the story, he has more on-screen victories than any other character.

He somehow also got into the tournament, showing that if he can do it, so can you. Even so, he is utterly slaughtered in the tourney, as his opponent is able to sweep his entire six-Pokémon team with a Starmie. By the end of the story, he has more on-screen victories than any other character. Charlie is a sarcastic, carefree person, often to the chagrin of poor Alex. He has a very high opinion of himself, and his arrogance leads him to be extremely bold with challenging stronger and smarter opponents. He tends to tell a lot of jokes, but less than half of them are any good. He has average intelligence in terms of battle strategy. He is a rather poor at coherent communication, leading to frustrating situations between him and other characters. Charlie is practically a demigod riding around on his Porygon. He beats up all sorts of people during the story (with his sweet Pokémon team), easily crushing their hopes and dreams with his own dream team. Charlie is addicted to orange juice, and he will frequently drink orange juice from a bottle hidden by a brown paper bag. He likes to debate his foes on the Pokémon they choose to battle with. He will intelligently explain why their Pokémon is worse than his and educate them on the folly of nuclear proliferation in the same breath. Charlie has a great distaste for Rattata, considering them the Scott Shriners of the Pokémon World. Additionally, Charlie can use a southern accent at will (and is in love with the moniker 'y'all'), though when he drinks a lot of orange juice, he cannot remember how to use his accent. When not battling, Charlie enjoys singing to himself in quasi-falsetto and playing the air drums. Charlie's favorite animal is the mongoose, and he often laments to himself about how there are no mongoose Pokémon. He has a marble bust of someone named 'Linny' that he carries around with him, though he doesn't like to talk about it. It is heavily implied that Charlie is the love child of Professor Oak and Ash Ketchum's mother throughout A Just Edge.
