The Book of Ruth simply called Ruth is the eighth book of the Old Testament and, as such, of the Bible. It is a part of the Nevi'im. The book relates events that took place during the time of the Judges. A Moabite by the name of Ruth and her Israelite mother-in-law as they move back return to the town of Bethlehem in the tribe of Judah. It was there that Ruth gleamed the fields of Boaz, a relative of her deceased husband. Boaz would marry her in order to redeem property owned by her husband. Their son, Obed, was grandfather to King David, and thus an ancestor of Jesus Christ.
