The Parable XTY-scout probe, or XTY-s for short, was the alternate design of the XTY-recon probe. After the XTY-r was designed, Parable engineers used the basic design to create a planetary version of the recon probe. The resulting probe had no hyperdrive, but had a small shield generator and better weapons than the recon probe.

The XTY-s was often employed by planetary governments to seek the location of various rebel groups and follow them at a distance, using its built-in commlink to relay the information it gathered to the main base. The XTY-s played its part well, often staying out of sight for long enough for the main force to arrive. The last XTY-s was decommissioned in 3,567 BBY, when new and smaller probes had become more cost-effective than the larger, older models.
