The Enbalmer Guild were the preservers of the dead among the Númenóreans and their Dúnedain and Black númenórean descendants. They were known as the Agânzîrim ("Friends of the death") among the Black Númenoreans and Badhrondili ("Friends of Námo") or Belguinar ("The Brethren of Silence") among the men of Arnor and Gondor. The custom of enbalming had also spread among some tribes of the Haradrim, where the Enbalmers were known as Azhaji, notably the Umbareans, Tandi, Kharadûni, Anbalukkhôri, Bellakarani, Tantûraki and Gimilthâni.
