The war culminated in the siege of the elf city of Tor Alessi, with High King Starbreaker killing Caledor (Caledor foolishly sallied the Dwarf army) and taking the Phoenix Crown as recompense. As the High Elves prepared to launch a suicidal attack on the Dwarf Holds, news reached them that the Dark Elves had attacked their homeland and were forced to withdraw, eventually shattering the Elven empire in the Old World.
