1440 Ophiuchi B V was a planet located in the space of the galaxy's Alpha or Beta Quadrants, the fifth planet in orbit of the 1440 Ophiuchi star system. 1440 Ophiuchi B V was the designation of a supposed fertile planet, with a large temperate band, discovered by long range sensors in the 1440 Ophiuchi system, near the Great Rift. It did not have any apparent animal lifeforms or oceans, and was (at the time of detection) the fifth planet that orbited a spectral class G8 star, 1440 Ophiuchi B, the secondary component of a binary star.

This planet was the objective of the SS Boreal, but it was revealed that this planet was not a permanent fixture in the system, it was only an appearance of the intellivore. (TNG novel: Intellivore)
