Nine Stones Close is an English progressive rock group from the Netherlands whose name comes from the standing stones of the same name found in Derbyshire. The band started out as a solo project by multi-instrumentalist Adrian Jones (Numb & Lie Big) when he moved to the Netherlands. The first CD, St Lo was independently released in 2008 and received heavy airplay on independent progressive rock web-based radio stations, particularly on The Rogues’ Gallery Progressive Rock Podcast on The Divifing Line. This generated visibility and critical acclaim, which in turn inspired the 2010 follow up Traces that saw Adrian teaming up with Brendan Eyre (Riversea), Marc Atkinson (Mandalaband, Riversea), and Neil Quarrell.
