The 2002 Budweiser Shootout was a Winston Cup (now Sprint Cup) exhibition race for the 2001 pole winners that was run on February 10 at Daytona International Speedway in Daytona Beach, Florida. Tony Stewart dominated the event, leading 31 of 70 laps, taking the checkered flag ahead of Dale Earnhardt, Jr. in the opening event of the first Speedweeks since the death of Dale Earnhardt. This would be the final time that the Shootout was run during the day, as the race would move to the Saturday night of the weekend before the Daytona 500. Stats
