Pauha (pronounced POW-hah) was a raider from the Battle Islands, and referred to herself as Queen Pauha. In 1035 KF she convinced the lesser chiefs of the isles to sail under her command and mustered quite a fleet that way. Her brother was Enahar, a powerful academic mage who also joined her fleet. With her fleet she attacked Winding Circle temple near Summersea in Emelan. Pauha died in the attack when Trisana Chandler set lightning on her ship. She doesn't appear in any of the books herself but has only been mentioned in Tris's Book in reference with the pirate attack.

Nory was an orphan and it was touched upon that her mother was a pirate queen who died years hence.
