Shri Mata : The Great mother. She is the Mother of all the mothers. The mother is usually called upon in times of sorrow, but our natural mothers are not able to remove the three kinds of pains, called Tapatraya तापत्रय. The greatest world-mother is the only one who is capable of removing the endless misery of existence. Hence we should praise her as the mother so that she may be induced to show mercy to us. Sometimes, in Hindu literature, Shri Mata is referred to the wife of Rudra, the equal of Saraswati and Lakshmi but here, the meaning is the one who is the creator of the three, Rudra, Lakshmi and Saraswati. The one who is the Great saviour. Hence in order to attain ultimate freedom, the Moksha मोक्ष, She should be praised.
