| - Team Dark (チームダーク Chīmu Dāku?) is a recurring group in the Sonic the Hedgehog series who first appeared in Sonic Heroes. The team was founded by Shadow the Hedgehog, Rouge the Bat and E-123 Omega, all of who joined forces to track down their common target: Dr. Eggman. Eventually meeting up with Team Sonic, Team Rose and Team Chaotix, the trio assisted in the defeat of the rogue Metal Sonic. Consisting of highly powerful and fearsome individuals in their own right, Team Dark is a force to be reckoned with and has often appeared to content with some of the world's greatest threats and champions.
- Team Dark was a team formed by Sonic during the clash against Tabuu and Black Doom. After Black Doom's final death, Team Dark killed 25 SSBB heroes, while Peach, Yoshi, Pikachu, and the Ice Climbers survived. Team Dark then hunted them down and killed any hero that stood in their way. Team Dark would be aided by the Dark Titans.

- The members of Team Dark were drawn into the conflict between Mega Man, Sonic, and the villainous Doctors Eggman and Wily after the Genesis Wave rewrote their world. Shadow the Hedgehog was abducted by the Copy Robot and transformed into one of the Roboticized Masters. His teammates Rouge the Bat and E-123 Omega followed his trail into the Skull Egg Zone, with Omega remaining behind to guard the portal back to their universe while Rouge went looking for Shadow. Shadow was later restored to normal by Sonic and Mega Man, but Rouge was captured and Roboticized following her efforts at sabotage aboard the Wily Egg. Omega and Shadow were then recruited into Sonic and Mega Man's force of allies, and joined in the battle against the doctors' army of Robot Masters prior to the Super Genesis Wave w
- Rouge had heard Dr. Eggman had a vast treasure, so she infiltrated one of his bases. When she entered one of the rooms, she found Shadow in a stasis container. She set him free of the stasis, but (accidentally) activated Omega too. Due to the anger of being locked up, Omega attempted to destroy Shadow, thinking he was an Eggman robot. After she stopped the two from killing each other, She had been told a few things on both sides: Omega was the last of Eggman's E-100 series robots built to guard and contain Shadow, should he get free. Shadow had amnesia from falling from the Space Colony ARK (indirectly alludes to Sonic Adventure 2, as the ARK was not mentioned in this scene). Rouge decided to make the two(and herself) into a team. Gameplay starts from there.
- Team Dark first formed under rather unusual circumstances: Rouge infiltrated one of Dr. Eggman's bases in search of treasure, only to discover an unconscious Shadow. As the Hedgehog had previously been thought deceased, Rouge was astonished, and proceeded to awaken him. However, the chamber in which he had been kept in stasis was also where Eggman had stored Omega after abandoning development of the E-100 Series. Omega and Shadow briefly clashed until Rouge got them to stop, and the three quickly formed a team in hopes of punishing Eggman, obtaining his treasure, and unlocking the truth about Shadow.
