The show also featured surreal elements, such as puppets playing talking animals or objects. Confusion was added with lengthy cutaways to scenarios not involved in the main plot.

You play the role of a lord, who is in charge of guiding your Land to greatness and glory. You have all the options and choices at your disposal. You can develop your Land’s economy, and try to become a merchant empire with a solid defense, or raise a mighty army to conquer and subjugate your neighbors. You may try to build a powerful alliance with other lords, or a try to be feared by all. You can carefully train an elite force, or raise troops by the thousands. It’s all up to you in this game where your strategy skills will be put to the ultimate test. Almansur is a turn-based MMOG (Massive Multiplayer Online Game). Your goal will be to prevail in a dangerous world where every Land is, at least at start, controlled by another human player. All aspects of your Land, such as economic development, land size, population, army size and quality will be constantly evaluated to produce a ranking of all the Lands in the game, which will eventually determine the winner. We tried to create a game such that the outcomes of your decisions should be as intuitive and logical as possible. Thus, many times you will only find the explanations about game mechanics and not the quantitative information. The goal of this approach is to avoid the need for the players to make elaborate calculations to determine the optimal course of action, and instead try to think about what makes sense in a given situation and elaborate their strategy and/or tactical plan accordingly. The game is turn based, meaning that when ever you can access it the game clock is stopped, allowing you to give your orders. This way you can play at what ever hours (real time) are more convenient for you. Some of those orders will be processed immediately and the effects will be instantly visible, others will remain queued to take effects only when the turn is processed (as will be stated later on the manual for each case). When the turn is being processed you will not be able to access your Land. This procedure will take a few minutes, depending on the size of the scenario and volume of information of the turn. A game turn will happen with a fixed periodicity, in real time, and will represent a fixed number of game days. Each scenario states the fixed values for each or these variables. So, for example, you can have one scenario with turns every day (always at the same hour), each consisting of ten game days, another scenario with turns every other day (always at the same hour), each consisting of fifteen game days, and so on. Once in the game, you will always be able to see on the left side of your screen the game date and the time remaining before the next game turn is processed. In this manual you will find information about the game mechanics organized, as much as possible, according to the same navigation scheme of the game itself, so that you can find more easily what ever information you need. System requirements: All you need is an Internet connection and a web browser with Flash installed! If you don’t have Flash installed, the game will automatically install it when you first try to open the map. We recommend that you use the most recent version of the graphics-enabled browser of your preference (you’re likely to be using one, but this should be mentioned for the sake of many who use text-only browsers).

The show also featured surreal elements, such as puppets playing talking animals or objects. Confusion was added with lengthy cutaways to scenarios not involved in the main plot. Episodes in the second series sometimes included "flash frames" (three frames, equivalent to 1/8 of a second), but these were edited out of some repeats. These were included as a mockery of the British and American public's fear of subliminal messages in television and music. Unlike original flash frames, which lasted only one frame, these were long enough to be noticeable without actually being identifiable. The images included the end caption of Carry On Cowboy, a rusty dripping tap, a leaping frog, a dove in flight, a skier, and a hand making pottery. The episodes ran 35 minutes, and episodes were very often edited to a standard half-hour running time when repeated on the BBC or satellite channels. In the United States, The Young Ones ran on PBS, MTV, Comedy Central in 1994, and BBC America in the early 2000s

- The chapter opens with Malkuthe, chieftain of the highwind, pondering a primal fear that had awoken in him. The blue flies to the highwind village, but there, the fear peaks and he is sent scrambling back to his home. There, he dreams of his mother who suddenly cries tears of blood and is bound in chains, telling Malkuthe to run. Meanwhile, in the Yedruun forest, the Lady of the Brightscales, Jade, is also dreaming. She dreams of flying through a storm and seeing a massive war. She issues commands and shouts taunts at her foes, but she is stopped in her tracks when a massive figure looms behind the enemy ranks. The apparition reaches for her and just as its hand was about to close around her, the dream broke and she entered the conscious realm, shivering. In the Windswept Valley, the ground shook and the walls rained rocks upon the Agile Talon. Their mistress stood upon the far end of the valley, stern and emotionless. She took the form of an elf with an intricately carved staff upon which an emerald was set. She lit the emerald with fire and slammed the staff on the valley floor. It quieted the shaking of the ground. On the Gasir Plains, Saffyre, mistress of the swifttail wakes just in time to shout caution to her tribe. As the weary tribe scatters, a herd of wild lycandu stampedes through the ground where they once were. She sees the eruption of a mountain in the distance and flies, following a misty trail. Malkuthe awakens to the apparition of a human queen. He follows her to a distant plateau, upon which he discovers the source of his fear. In the distance, the mountain is erupting. The chieftains arrive one by one and deliberate on what to do. In the meantime, a lowly farmer by the name of Raducan wakes up in the middle of the night. He has been branded as cursed by the people of the Highwind because of his strange markings, but he is a close friend of the chieftain. He sees the erupting mountain and flies towards it, stopping only when he spots the chieftains. He flees for the safety of his home, hoping that Malkuthe had neither seen nor recognized him. The discussion turned heated, with Malkuthe demanding that custom be forgone in times of extreme need. He says that the other Ceree must know nothing about what happened on that night, not until they could still do something about it. The other chieftains soon bend to his will. They come up with a solution. The mirror of the winds, an ancient spell of illusion so powerful, no mortal power could break it. As soon as the mirror is woven, Malkuthe leaves, saying that he has business to take care of. He lands upon a familiar farm and confronts Raducan. He wipes the purple Ceree’s memory and leaves. He goes back to his cave and goes into deep slumber. Upon the ‘land bathed eternally in the light of the moon’ a black dragon senses the eruption. He wonders how an unnamed entity managed to break free of the prison it was cast in. In another, equally mysterious place, two voices converged. The villainous duo, master and minion, seem to be planning a move against the chieftains. With that, the chapter ends.

Like the Japanese Emperor, Shizumasa is treated with complete reverence and is kept shielded from the chattering masses. The only people who have unrestricted access to his company is the student council, the crème de la crème of this elite school. Through a series of wacky circumstances, Haine finds herself appointed to the council as the bodyguard for the Emperor – but can she protect herself from the complex web of intrigue surrounding the student council and protect her heart from the Shizumasa's stern demeanor and slightly manipulative ways?
