The Italo-French War (10-25 June 1940), also called the Italian invasion of France, was the first Italian military campaign during the World War II. The Regio Esercito (Italian Army) attacked the French Alps and town of Mentone. The French forces resisted fiercely, but had to agree to surrender terms in the face of fresh reinforcements from the Cosseria Division and indiscriminate bombing of French cities on the part of the Regia Aeronautica (Italian Air Force).
