* A - This article is exceptional - it probably does not need much work (if any at all), and is generally recognized as one of the best of its kind.
* B - This article should be well written, accurate, use a neutral point of view, and wherever possible, be illustrated by appropriately tagged images. B-class articles may not be as thorough and detailed as A-class articles, but should not omit any major facets of the topic.
* C - This article has several of the elements of a D-class article, usually a majority of the material needed for a completed article. Nonetheless, it has significant gaps, needs substantial editing, or lacks Neutral Point Of View.
* D - This article has a meaningful amount of good content, but it is still weak in many areas, and may lack a key element. It has at least one serious element of gathered materials, including any one of the following:
* A particularly useful picture or graphic
* A subheading that fully treats an element of the topic
* Multiple subheadings that indicate material that could be added to complete the article
* Stub - This Article is either a very short article or a rough collection of information that will need much work to bring it to A-Class level. It is usually very short, but can be of any length if the material is irrelevant or incomprehensible. Basic rules of thumb:
* Thoroughness of information - If an article is thorough in its information, it can be rated any class; if it is somewhat thorough, it can be stub, D, C or sometimes B class; if it is not thorough at all, it can be stub or D class.
* Editing - If an article contains numerous grammatical or spelling errors or is not formatted correctly, it cannot be A or B class.
* Neutrality - If an article lacks Neutral Point of View, it cannot be A or B class.
* Images - Generally, articles without images are not rated A-class.
* Up-To-Date - Although not entirely necessary, being up-to-date is normally necessary for A or B class articles.
