| - The Dragontalker is the first scenario in Clash of the Dragons, the fourth part of Heroes Chronicles. Tarnum has lived with the elves for twenty years, and is a good friend of the dragons that dwell there - they're as long-lived as him, and they know exactly who he is, but they don't hold his past crimes against him. When the dragons suddenly disappear, the Ancestors ask him to find them, but he would have investigated it even if they hadn't. He sends his foster son Waerjak to live with his ex-girlfriend Adrienne, and then goes to the elf king Eldrich Parson to ask him to be given the mission of locating the dragons. The elf king tells him to find the Dragontalker, an ancient elf who lives with the dragons and may know what's happened. Tarnum appoints the dwarf Kurbon to be his Master of Supplies, and the elderly druid Aspen makes himself Tarnum's advisor. Kurbon is careful with money and obsessed with details, and Aspen is a wise, but arrogant druid who can defeat even Tarnum at chess. While they search for the Dragontalker, they learn that elven farms are being attacked in the night by forces that don't leave trails. Eventually, Tarnum comes across a group of troglodytes, who are digging through the earth to attack the farms from below. Eventually, Tarnum locates the Dragontalker, who is being attacked by green dragons. She tells him that something is controlling the dragons - they were forced to fly away against their will.
