Tremolo Picking is a musical technique where one note, usually on a stringed instrument, is picked or plucked rapidly in order to mimic a sustained note. Musicians use this technique in places where a single played note might decay. Tremolo picking can be heard in diverse genres and on many different instruments; classic violin, rock guitar and bluegrass mandolin music all use this technique frequently.
