S'lan, formerly Sellessan, is the rider of brown Norenth at Benden Weyr. In Skies of Pern, he is just out of the weyrling barracks. He is the son of F'lessan and the grandson of F'lar and Lessa. He is described as being as curious as F'lessan when he was a boy. He looks up to his father and can look like his grandmother when he scowls. He sneaked out to see what the commotion was when the Weyrleader had spotted a strange light in the sky, a meteor which would fall into the Eastern Ring Sea. F'lessan told his to fetch his rider gear and S'lan complied. S'lan is affectionately called Sellie by his father.
