The Artist's Door is one of the manifestations of the Unfound Door encountered throughout the series. In The Dark Tower VII, this magical doorway is created after Susannah Dean recounts her recurring dreams to Patrick Danville on the road to the Tower. In the dreams, Susannah sees an ironwood door with a knob of solid gold, and filigreed with the shape of two crossed pencils—#2’s whose erasers have been cut off. The hieroglyphs for "Unfound" and the words "The Artist" are seen upon its face. Using his power, Patrick conjures the door into existence before the ka-tet, albeit with a plain shiny doorknob and without the words "The Artist". Nevertheless, the door still functions as it was meant to, and Susannah proceeds through the portal, out of Mid-World and into an alternate America.
