Wookieepedia plans to have a table set up at the event. Wikia will provide $1000 towards merchandise and the table. Official fan group application information can be seen at these links: [1] [2] Part of the application for a free table is a no-more-than-500-word initial proposal. Let's come up with the initial proposal and try to get our table for free. Then we can use the money from Wikia and the money that we raise towards other things listed on the original discussion page like merchandising. When we come up with a proposal we all like, I'll send it in. WhiteBoy 03:52, 19 November 2006 (UTC)

  • Wookieepedia plans to have a table set up at the event. Wikia will provide $1000 towards merchandise and the table. Official fan group application information can be seen at these links: [1] [2] Part of the application for a free table is a no-more-than-500-word initial proposal. "You, your Star Wars friends, and your local fan club can jump right into the heart of Celebration IV by becoming part of the entertainment and programming. In addition to applying for free exhibit space, fan groups and individuals can submit proposals for fan-sponsored events, entertainment, panels, or exhibits. Please send a brief initial proposal (limit 500 words) to fanevents@starwars.com, or mail it to Mary Franklin; Lucasfilm Ltd., PO Box 29901, San Francisco, CA 94129. Include your email address and contact information. Briefly summarize what you would do, time, budget, and materials needed, number of people involved, and how the audience could participate, if at all. Initial proposals will be considered for final proposals, and do not guarantee scheduling during Celebration IV." Let's come up with the initial proposal and try to get our table for free. Then we can use the money from Wikia and the money that we raise towards other things listed on the original discussion page like merchandising. When we come up with a proposal we all like, I'll send it in. WhiteBoy 03:52, 19 November 2006 (UTC) * First we want to show that we are not just some random fan club and are a serious site with a goal. We should have computers up, maybe as many as their are people representing? This will show the rest of the world that doesn't know about us to know about us and furthermore read or contribute to us afterward. -- Riffsyphon1024 03:58, 19 November 2006 (UTC) * Agreed with Riffsyphon1024 — do we have any initial proposal in mind right now? —Mirlen 15:20, 23 November 2006 (UTC) * Okay. I just wrote something, but I did it Han Solo style (off the seat of my pants) because I don't have all the info. And I wrote it like a memo in Word, but I could change to a block letter, modified block, etc. The tabbed spaces don't work so well here. Feel free to modify it. Atarumaster88 20px (Audience Chamber) 18:03, 5 December 2006 (UTC) * ENTRY PROPOSAL: Started roughly a year ago to provide a valuable source of information on the Star Wars universe, Wookieepedia () has grown rapidly, with over 40,000 articles, approximately one thousand users (many of whom, such as Arf Maul and Darth Culator, can be found on the Jedi Council forums and TheForce.net communities) and with more information added every day, and also notable fan groups such as Club Jade and CUSWE listed as Official Friends of the site. As we strive to become the most comprehensive online database of Star Wars, Wookieepedia would now like to showcase our efforts at the upcoming Celebration IV through having a fan group table. This would be a standard or corner booth, and would be shared with the Completely Unofficial Star Wars Encyclopedia. At a Wookieepedia table, Wookieepedians from around the world would have computers set up to show off the site and allow non-attendees to interact with event-goers via our IRC chat channel. Editors would be able to explain how the site works and try to garner interest from other fans, inviting other convention-goers to participate in the site (editable by anyone) and learn how to contribute. Current plans involve the placement of a projection screen linked to a computer to display the site in a larger form than merely on screens. Other users not present at the convention could also interact through Wookieepedia's IRC chat channel via linked computers. Additionally, various types of Wookieepedia merchandise would be available, particularly T-shirts. Current counts of users present to help range from about 10-20, with shifts of approximately 3-4 users at the table at a time to answer questions. To involve the event-goers, Wookieepedia is planning on having a “stump-the-Wookiee” contest, where other fans can compete in competitions to test the knowledge of Wookieepedia and its users. The table would be manned through most, if not all, of the convention. Recently, Completely Unofficial Star Wars Encyclopedia founder Bob Vitas expressed an interest in being part of the Wookieepedia table, allowing what can be considered the two largest unofficial online encyclopedias to stand side-by-side and display the wealth of information available. However, to have the best presentation possible, Wookieepedia would greatly benefit from the aid of the event organizers in providing resources. First and foremost is a table for our exhibit, but resources including high-speed Internet access, computer equipment, a desktop projector, a projection screen, and any financial assistance would be greatly appreciated as well. As our users are from across the globe (from Arthur Papadam in Australia to Steven Greenwood in Tennessee) and must handle travel and accommodation costs, any assistance from Lucasfilm and the event coordinators would go a long way in helping us set up a table and be part of the much-anticipated Celebration IV. We of Wookieepedia would like to thank Lucasfilm and Gen Con LLC for providing this venue for fans to gather in celebration of the most successful science fiction franchise ever, and we look forward to hearing from you and your representatives. May the Force be with you. * Hey, Ataru... based on the outcome of the general concensus, let me know if you want me to add anything, assuming we decide to join forces for a table. Bob Vitas 02:17, 6 December 2006 (UTC) * That was beautiful, Ataru. -- Riffsyphon1024 15:57, 6 December 2006 (UTC) * Thanks. If we come up with more activities, they can be added, and if we need more stuff, that can be added as well. I just wrote it because I was bored and because the deadline is in less than a month. Atarumaster88 20px (Audience Chamber) 19:27, 6 December 2006 (UTC) * In case this was looked over, here's a PDF regarding the actual table, including total costs and some rules we have to abide by. [3] -- Riffsyphon1024 18:53, 8 December 2006 (UTC) * We should figure out what we want, and quickly. Then someone can add it to the proposal. Atarumaster88 20px (Audience Chamber) 16:58, 11 December 2006 (UTC) * That looks great. Kuralyov 19:53, 11 December 2006 (UTC) * Anyone else have an opinion before we send this out? -- Riffsyphon1024 04:08, 21 December 2006 (UTC) * Even though I won't make it to Los Angeles, i have some thoughts for the table. We could offer tutorials/Instructions, maybe with a projection onto a big screen, of how to sign on as a Wookieepedian, how to create a user page, how to make an article, how to upload images, how to copy and use some common templates, how to site sources properly, and how to distinguish between canon, semicanon, infinities, ambiguous, and fanon, etc. We could also hand out pamphlets on the subject.JustinGann 06:32, 21 December 2006 (UTC) * Ok guys. The proposal is due by the 1st of January. We need to send the proposal now. I have asked Ataru but there is no response to whether or not he did. Chad? -- Riffsyphon1024 05:47, 29 December 2006 (UTC) * Riff, I've asked JSarek (who as far as I know is still the ranking member) to send it tomorrow. I was waiting to see if there were any other ideas, and I will update the proposal and incorporate JustinGann's proposals (at least some of them). It'd be nice if the people who are going would have a mini-Mofference to discuss what, how, etc. is going on at the table, IMO. Atarumaster88 20px (Audience Chamber) 20:15, 29 December 2006 (UTC) * I've also asked Bob Vitas to take a look and see if there's anything missing. With a bit of luck, this will be on its way soon. Atarumaster88 20px (Audience Chamber) 20:31, 29 December 2006 (UTC) * NOTE: That mess up there should read "FROM:Wookieepedia, in care of (sender)" Atarumaster88 20px (Audience Chamber) 20:56, 29 December 2006 (UTC) * Punch it! (Although you probably already have...) Bob Vitas 12:04, 3 January 2007 (UTC) * Now the question is: how long will it take before they announce a winner for the free table? -- Riffsyphon1024 05:00, 4 January 2007 (UTC) * It's been punched, though I told them that Riff would be in charge, so he probably needs to contact them. Atarumaster88 20px (Audience Chamber) 15:45, 4 January 2007 (UTC) * Ok, did you punch it before New Years, Ataru? And if they want to contact me via personal email, they can send a message to madman15@bellsouth.net -- Riffsyphon1024 05:17, 8 January 2007 (UTC) * Yes Riff. I took precious time out of my New Year's Eve and sent it off. I'll send them a follow-up e-mail with your contact info, or you can do it later- the link is on this page. Atarumaster88 20px (Audience Chamber) 16:07, 8 January 2007 (UTC) * Actually, you should probably e-mail them, to establish a line of communication between you and the LucasFilm people. Atarumaster88 20px (Audience Chamber) 16:10, 8 January 2007 (UTC) * I have responded to fanevents@starwars.com (hopefully Mary Franklin's address) with my email and phone number as requested here: [4]. Is there anything that we are forgetting? Do we need to send the logos? -- Riffsyphon1024 01:37, 9 January 2007 (UTC) * There are other deadlines also that the eventgoers should be aware of. Atarumaster88 20px (Audience Chamber) 06:25, 10 January 2007 (UTC) * Yes, I believe that March 31st is the last day to purchase a badge for the event, as they will be sending them in April. -- Riffsyphon1024 07:02, 10 January 2007 (UTC) * It appears that they may announce a winner at the end of the month. -- Riffsyphon1024 15:33, 24 January 2007 (UTC) * I have to say, I'm a little concerned. I mean no offense to anyone, but looking over the list, it seems that there are only about 5 or 6 serious Wookieepedians who are confirmed to be there and definitely intend to help out with the table. Am I wrong in that assumption? -- Ozzel 06:14, 3 February 2007 (UTC) * We could check with every person going to see exactly what they'll be available for, and bold those working on the table. I haven't heard a word from LFL or Gencon regarding the table so I'm thinking we didn't make it. -- Riffsyphon1024 06:28, 12 February 2007 (UTC) * Well you can scratch one from the list Ozzel. -- Riffsyphon1024 06:46, 12 February 2007 (UTC)
