The character of Edith Prickley was created for and played by comedian Andrea Martin, when the series debuted in 1976. Along with Caballero, Prickley was one of the few characters to appear throughout the entire run of the series, which ended in 1984. From 1998 onward, Andrea Martin has been regularly featured on "Elmo's World" as the voice of the Lecture Lady, featured on Elmo's TV. The Lecture Lady looked like Edith Prickley in some of her initial appearances.
