Paul Ruskay is a composer and sound designer of all three Homeworld games. He is also credited as author of original Homeworld 2 concept. Paul Ruskay graduated music composition and classical guitar performance at Vancouver Community College in 1994. His first encounter with computer gaming industry happen in same year, when he joined Radical Entertainment as composer ad sound designer. In year 1999 Paul joined newly found Studio X Labs where he worked on and composed the Soundtrack for Homeworld, which happened to be the company's debut project and first success. The following decade and a half saw Paul continuing to work with Studio X Labs, where he still works today.

Notable games for which he composed soundtracks were: FIFA 2007 (2006), Sword of the Stars (2006), Homeworld 2 (2003), Homeworld: Cataclysm (2000), Microsoft Combat Flight Simulator 2: WW II Pacific Theater (2000), NHL 2K (2000), and Homeworld (1999). Paul Ruskay's Homeworld soundtrack was awarded Best Soundtrack of 1999 by Eurogamer and PC Gamer. In 2002, Paul was awarded the Leo Award for Best Sound Editing, and in 2005 he earned a Leo for Best Music Score in a Short Drama.
