Professor Tesla Kidder's son Archie was engaged to be married. While Kate was normally a pleasant enough young woman, the pressures of preparing for the wedding got to her. One of her bridesmaids referred to her as a "Bridezilla" within Professor Kidder's hearing and got him to thinking. This wouldn't have mattered except Kidder was a mad scientist which led to an "unfortunate incident".
