  • In order to prevent the Demon of West Region from looting Eighth Auntie's Talisman when she is very weak, please go to the forest out of the cave to pick some wild fruits for her. You must take care, the underlings are not easy to deal with.
  • Starvation is a CGI-animated film about a young peasent girl who finds a pickle and has to battle a three-headed tomcat.
  • Starvation is a derived statistic in Fallout: New Vegas in Hardcore mode.
  • Starvation is a secondary quest in Two Worlds II, wherein The Hero assists the small village of Bayan and its leader, Alima, with a food shortage problem facing the village that has been brought on by drought. The village of Halhin no longer trades supplies and their aid must be gained.
  • Starvation is a physical penalty that will lower both your character's mobility and also, temporarily, his/her mastery of any physical skills. For example, if the starvation penalty is -14% and his/her sword skill level is 42%, the effective skill level is 28%. If the character's hunger bar is full (green all the way) for a whole day the character will start to starve, taking a 7% physical penalty. Each subsequent day without food will add another 7% to this penalty. When the character starts eating again this penalty will be reduced over time.
  • Starvation is a death caused by going an excessive period of time without food. It is a common way for newbies, low-level wizards and those attempting the foodless conduct to die, although it is more common to be killed by a monster while fainted from lack of food. If you are weak or fainting from hunger and have no food, pray and your god may fill your stomach (deities regard this as a major problem). Polymorphing into a new version of yourself or dying while wearing an amulet of life saving also resets your hunger status.
  • In The Sims 2, the ghost of a Sim who died of starvation will be a transparent white. These ghosts will open and close the fridge, and will take food. These ghosts get angry if there is no fridge on the lot or if the fridge is empty. Babies, toddlers, and children cannot die of starvation; they will be removed by the social worker before their hunger drops low enough. Even if testingcheatsenabled is used to drag the Hunger motive down to zero, they will not starve.

Each subsequent day without food will add another 7% to this penalty. When the character starts eating again this penalty will be reduced over time. Starvation isn't uncommon during the first couple of months of a game, depending on starting season, skills, luck - and any arbitrary, self-imposed rules the player follows. Time-consuming tasks like building your own house may also contribute to the character running out of food.
In The Sims 3, a Sim starves if they get the "Starving" moodlet, and it expires. Since a Sim will only get this moodlet after the "Hungry" and "Very Hungry" moodlets have expired, starvation takes longer than it does in other Sims games. In The Sims 3, the ghost of a Sim who died of starvation will be purple, and the gravestone of that Sim will have a picture of a knife, fork, and plate on it. Vampires in The Sims 3: Late Night cannot die of starvation, but can die from thirst. Due to technical limitations, a Sim can only die of starvation when on a lot, as the gravestone can only be spawned on a lot. As a result, Sims do not die in areas that are outside of lots, such as roads. Pregnant Sims cannot die from starvation. With testingcheatsenabled on, even if the players drag the hunger need of a baby, toddler, or child down to zero, the child will not die, but will be taken away by the social worker. The same thing applies tor pets. In The Sims 4, this works the same way as The Sims 3, except that it goes through two moodlets instead of three. The hungry Sim goes through the "Hungry" moodlet. If hunger is not fulfilled after 24 hours, that changes to the "Ravenous" moodlet, which lasts for another 24 hours. The Sim dies of starvation after the "Ravenous" moodlet expires. The limitation that Sims can only die on lots has been removed, so Sims can collapse from starvation in the middle of the street.
  • Starvation is a death caused by going an excessive period of time without food. It is a common way for newbies, low-level wizards and those attempting the foodless conduct to die, although it is more common to be killed by a monster while fainted from lack of food. To reduce the risk of starvation, eat everything you kill which is safe to eat (if your pet will eat it, you normally can too). It is advisable not to linger on cleared levels, where your only food source is the monsters which are randomly generated. Rings and amulets increase your food consumption by 5% each, so if you are low on food you may wish to avoid wearing them. Be especially cautious of rings of regeneration, conflict and hunger, all of which add 50% to your food consumption, and do not carry so much equipment that you are Stressed or worse. Casting spells consumes nutrition unless you are a wizard with Intelligence at least 17. If you are weak or fainting from hunger and have no food, pray and your god may fill your stomach (deities regard this as a major problem). Polymorphing into a new version of yourself or dying while wearing an amulet of life saving also resets your hunger status. The stone to flesh spell can turn a boulder into a huge chunk of meat which will take you from Fainting to Satiated (this is mostly useful for Healers). It is possible to subsist entirely on a horn of plenty periodically recharged with the Platinum Yendorian Express Card.
