In WWII, Hitler often made his armies and their commanders fight to the last man against the Allied Armies. This lead to the deaths or captures of thousands of Germans in the war, until Hitler finally gave his Field Commanders more control with retreating. However, a large portion of the German army had already been destroyed, and that choice came too late to have any real effect on the battlefield. However, what if Hitler had been more flexible with his Commanders. What if he had allowed them to retreat when they felt it was needed. This could have led to a different out come, with more casulties and a longer war since the Nazis would have had more men to fight with.
