Beauregard "Rapier" Travis was born in 1910 to the Great War hero Achilles Travis. He learned to fly when he was fourteen and was given his own plane, a Curtiss Sparrowhawk for his sixteenth birthday. Travis was attending Emory University during the Wall Street Crash and the subsequent formation of the Confederation of Dixie. He traveled west to help fight the Republic of Texas. Travis was stationed in Shreveport, Louisiana before Lousiana left the Confederacy. Travis is the most-decorated pilot in the Confederation, with two Southern Stars for Valor. He was the first in his squadron to make ace and was a Colonel in the Confederate military in 1937. Travis is well known, and respected, in Atlanta due to his high profile and modesty.
