Former Bulgarian international Trifon Ivanov (born July 27, 1965 in Veliko Tarnovo) really was a lot like a wolf – a wolf that could hit a free-kick from 45 yards. A fairly decent wing-back, Ivanov enjoyed a creditable career and was part of the Bulgaria side that unrealistically finished fourth in the 1994 World Cup, dumping Germany out at the quarter-final stage. Ivanov also made a name for himself at major tournaments by having a shy from anywhere up to 95 metres out with free-kicks.
