Multiple versions of the Power model were introduced in 1988 and 1989: a version with a single coil and humbucking pickup combination was issued as the 540PⅡ-SH. Both 540PⅡ models originally were for the Japanese and European market. Two 22-fret models without pickguard were introduced in 1989 as the 540PHH and 540PSH for the US market. Although these guitars are not signature models, they were strongly associated with guitarist Alex Skolnick of Testament fame.
