Synopsis
| - In the middle of battle, John Henry Irons struggles to stand, contemplating that his destiny had finally come, as Doomsday looms over him, roaring his name. He briefly flashes back to the day after he pulled himself out of the rubble from Doomsday's first rampage, the doctor telling him that he was lucky and that he shouldn't always be a hero. In the present, the police try to get people out of the way as Natasha hides. She flashes back to minutes ago where she attempted to persuade John Henry to not go out there. He tells her he has to because Superman and the Justice League aren't here and that this was what "all four of them" signed up for after Superman died. Despite Natasha pointing out that they had powers, John Henry ignores her and takes off.
In the present, John Henry evades Doomsday's attack and takes a few steps away, only for the monster to attack some police officers. John tosses his hammer to take him down, only to watch as Doomsday develops armor on his body, snag him in mid-air, then toss him into a building. Outside the battle, Natasha aids an injured man and they realize who she was. They hope they can help Steel, but she tells them there's nothing she can do. In the battle, John Henry realizes that Doomsday was screaming his name and laments that the creature truly was coming after him, but he isn't certain why. As the beast has him on the run, John Henry inserts a bunch of nanobots into a wound he inflicted to paralyze him. As he does, Natasha arrives, shocked at his victory. However, Doomsday quickly shrugs it off and goes back on the offensive. John Henry realizes that Doomsday's evolving too fast - something's changed about him, but before he can figure out what, he attacks Natasha. John Henry lunges at him as cameras catch his defeat, the beast slamming him into the ground forcefully. As he passes out, ready to accept his fate, Doomsday retracts his armor and ends up carrying Steel away, leaving Natasha to wonder what has happened to him.
