Embryos of clone troopers were grown and monitored on Kamino in strictly controlled environments. When Obi-Wan Kenobi first inspected the Kamino cloning facilities, he felt waves of life-energy emanating from the countless embryos surrounding him. Embryonic development was not limited to Humans. Zonama Sekot referred to its developing seed-ships as "embryos." Nen Yim vivisected the embryo of a kul.

It is revealed in the last page of Chapter 48 (the final chapter) that the embryo is every single Heart's Egg, meaning Easter's attempts to capture the Embryo were all in vain.

Its other powers include the power of Phenomenon Intervention, meaning it can recreate time as it pleases, with the only person capable of remembering past timelines being the wielder of Sword of Destruction: Kusanagi, which has the ability of "Shared Existence". In order to properly temper the Embryo, the Original Grimoire is needed. This was lent to Takamagahara by the Magic Guild. The initial "birth" of the Embryo was at the Wadatsumi Laboratory. While the Embryo was being tempered, the Grimoire went out of control and absorbed the souls of everyone around the laboratory. However, this was stopped halfway by Ryōko Kagari, a scientist who feared for the lives of everyone left. This event was later known as the Wadatsumi Incident. The Embryo turned the Original Grimoire in a copy of Ryōko's son, Tōya Kagari, and turned herself into a girl that was later named Hinata Himezuru. After Sechs dumped both Hinata and Es in the Boundary, Es inherited the Embryo from Hinata, and since the Embryo does not belong in the real world, she erased all memories of herself and stayed in the Boundary, sealing all of the Gates with the World of Tsukuyomi. But then Freaks killed all of her friends, and she discovered that the Embryo does not have enough power to save them, so she fell into despair and turned herself into Nobody and the World of Tsukuyomi into the Phantom Field. With Me's help, Nobody gained enough power to send herself as Es back to her world as an ordinary human girl, while her own body, the Embryo, was left in the Field as an empty shell. When Clavis Alucard traveled around the world to stop the user of the Drive Soul Eater, he found an Embryo at the end of their final battle. The Embryo would eventually take form and shape to become Raquel Alucard. It is revealed at the end of BlazBlue: Chronophantasma that Hades: Izanami's true goal is to create a new Embryo and create the True BlazBlue with it. She manages to do so as she heralds Doomsday, and sacrifices the Nox Nyctores - Gigant: Takemikazuchi to help form the new Embryo as it floats above the sky of the 5th Hierarchical City of Ibukido. Ragna the Bloodedge and Lambda-11 are somewhere deep within it; Rachel Alucard and Noel Vermillion are also within the Embryo, searching for the former and helping the latter recognize her existence. In BlazBlue: Centralfiction everyone was dragged into the Sealed Space: Embryo. This space consists of multiple worlds, which the Master Unit now merges into one.
  • A Human embryo was a being between the gestational age of two weeks and twelve weeks. Prior to this, it was called a zygote, and after this it was called a fetus. The length of time that another species spent in a similar stage varied depending on the length of the gestation. Dr. Arik Soong stole a number of Augment embryos from Cold Station 12 in 2134. In the 22nd century, Cold Station 12 was a top-secret facility located on an asteroid and jointly operated and staffed by Starfleet and the Denobulans under the auspices of the Interspecies Medical Exchange. The facility was used to store hazardous viruses and pathogens for research purposes, as well as over 1,800 embryos of 20th century Augments from the Eugenics Wars. (ENT: "Borderland") In 2154, the Klingons used embryos from genetically-engineered Human Augments to resequence a number of test subjects. Unfortunately, there were some unanticipated side effects, including the dissolving of their cranial ridges. Augment DNA was found to be more aggressive than the Klingons realized; nevertheless, the test subjects became stronger and more intelligent before their neural pathways unexpectedly started to degrade, and they died in agony (see Klingon Augments). (ENT: "Affliction")
