Sir Ernest Louis Meinertzhagen (11 December 1854 - 6 January 1933) was a barrister, businessman and local politician. The son of naturalised German parents, Daniel Meinertzhagen V (merchant banker) and Amelia née Huth, he was born in Marylebone. In 1878 he married Alice Helen Gwavas Carlyon at St Margaret's, Westminster. In 1882 he was called to the bar at the Inner Temple. In 1883 he became chairman of Whites, Tompkins and Courage Limited a large food-processing and milling company. His funeral took place at St Luke's Church, Chelsea, and he was buried at Kensal Green Cemetery.

From 1883 he lived in Cheyne Walk, Chelsea, and became involved in the politics of the area. He was a member of Chelsea Vestry and the successor Chelsea Borough Council until his death. From 1898-1910 he was a member of Chelsea Board of Guardians and also represented the parish on the Metropolitan Asylums Board. In 1910 he was elected to the London County Council as a Municipal Reform Party councillor representing Chelsea, holding the seat until his death. His funeral took place at St Luke's Church, Chelsea, and he was buried at Kensal Green Cemetery.
