In reality, Margaux had sent him a proof of the first installment which he returned laden with his criticism. Discovering this, Victoria told her that she had done a great job with the magazine and that she had to begin to control powerful men instead of receiving orders from them. Eventually, Emily appeared and Daniel told her that he could not marry her due to the fact that he felt that he was the only one making any effort towards their relationship.
