The London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games (LOCOG) is a limited company, owned by the Government of the United Kingdom, that will oversee the planning and development of the 2012 Summer Olympic and Paralympic Games. After the successful London 2012 Olympic bid, LOCOG was formed to continue the work started by the bidding team. The International Olympic Committee (IOC) chose London as the host on 6 July 2005, narrowly beating the Paris bid.
