Halfpennies, pennies, and bits are their base currency: after that, you can either get Rounds - quarterbits, rounds, and royals - or Reels - hafts, nobles, reels, and five-reel pieces. One halfpenny is the equivalent to 6.5 shims. Roughly converted:
* 2 halfpennies = 1 penny
* 2.5 pennies (or 5 halfpennies) = 1 bit
* 2 bits = 1 quarter bit
* 4 quarter bits = 1 round
* 10 rounds = 1 royal
* 10 bits = 1 haft
* 2 hafts = 1 noble
* 2.5 nobles (or 5 hafts) = a reel
* 5 reels = 1 five reel piece Pennies are made of copper, and are made in a way that they can be easily broken into two halves, which makes two Half Pennies (each worth 1/2 the value of a normal Penny). Bits, Quarterbits, Rounds, Hafts and Nobles are all made of Silver. Rounds are made in a way that they can easily be broken into four to eight parts, creating the Quarterbits when broken into 4 parts, each worth exactly 1/4 of a Round, and then, if a quarterbit is further divided, creating a bit, worth 1/2 of a quarterbit or 1/8 of a Round. Reels, Royals and Five-Piece Reels are all made of Gold, and, although a Five-Piece Reel is worth five pieces of Reels, there is no information on the books nor on appendices concerning if they can be broken down to Reels or not, so that it's probaby a different coinage, and not a coin which can be broken into five pieces for making Reels...
