It was the first running of the Russian Grand Prix as a round of the Formula One World Championship. It was held between October 10 and October 12, 2014. Following Jules Bianchi's accident at the Japanese Grand Prix, Marussia choose to run just one car. Lewis Hamilton took pole position ahead of Nico Rosberg after Valtteri Bottas' tyres gave up on his fast lap. The race saw extremely low degradation. Hamilton won very easily, while Rosberg, having flat-spotted both his front tyres on first lap, managed to finish second despite spending 52 laps on the medium compound tyre. Bottas finished third. Back down the grid, Max Chilton, Marussia's sole entrant, retired early on. Mercedes clinched their frist Constructors' Championship as a result of the race. __TOC__
