| - During Robert's Rebellion he was tasked with capturing Robert Baratheon at the Stoney Sept. Connington insisted on engaging Robert in single combat and his army was defeated when Eddard Stark arrived to aid Robert with reinforcements, resulting in the Battle of the Bells, in which the crown was defeated.
- Jon Connington was Lord of Griffin's Roost, the head of House Connington, and for a time Hand of the King to Aerys II Targaryen. Jon was one of the few close friends of Rhaegar Targaryen. He had no brothers. After failing to defeat Robert Baratheon during Robert's Rebellion, he fled in exile to Essos and took the name Griff. He was believed to have drunk himself to death in exile, until his reemergence in 301AC at the side of Rhaegar's son, Aegon VI Targaryen.
- Jon Connington, Lord of Griffin's Roost, was the head of House Connington and briefly served as the Hand of the King during the reign of Aerys II Targaryen. Growing up as a squire in King's Landing, he became one of the few close friends of Rhaegar Targaryen. It is implied that he was in love with Rhaegar, as he refers to Rhaegar as his "Silver Prince." This theory is supported by Connington's distaste for Elia Martell, Rhaegar's wife. Connington is a POV character in A Dance with Dragons.
- Jon Connington ist der ehemalige Lord vom Greifenhorst. Er war eine Zeit lang die Hand des Königs von Aerys II. Targaryen. Nachdem er Robert Baratheon in der Schlacht der Glocken zunächst nicht finden bzw. besiegen konnte, floh er nach Essos und lebte dort unter dem Pseudonym Greif.
- Jon Connington war das Oberhaupt von Haus Connington sowie Hand des Königs, allerdings wurde er von Aerys II. Targaryen, seinem König, verbannt, da er sich während Roberts Rebellion auf Robert Baratheons Seite stellte - Jon Arryn übernahm seinen Platz.
- Lord Jon Connington, zwany również Gryf – lord Gniazda Gryfów oraz głowa domu Conningtonów, jedyny syn lorda Armonda Conningtona. Był najbliższym przyjacielem księcia Rhaegara Targaryena, w czasie Wojen Uzurpatora należał do stronnictwa lojalistów Żelaznego Tronu, gdzie służył królowi Aerysowi II Targaryenowi jako królewski namiestnik. Po przegranej z Rebeliantami w Bitwie Dzwonów, został wygnany, a jego ziemie zostały skonfiskowane. Connington przyjął więc przydomek Gryf i zaczął służbę w Złotej Kompanii. Potem upozorował kradzież złota kompani i zapicie się na śmierć, aby ukryć się z ocalałym synem Rhaegara Aegonem i przygotować go do powrotu. Obecnie znów jest władcą Gniazda Gryfów i królewskim namiestnikiem z ramienia Aegona VI.
