Bahan took over the program just two years after its inception and has transformed the culture of Pitt-Bradford swimming. During his tenure, the Panthers have broken every school record, establishing more than 200 records along the way, and four of his players have been tabbed as the AMCC Swimmer of the Year. Bahan has been named the men's and women’s AMCC Coach of the Year five times, and he has coached 46 all-conference performers. The 2012-13 season was full of its high notes. The men's team finished runner-up at the AMCC Championships for the third straight year, and senior Melinda Mackenzie was named the women's Co-Swimmer of the Year after winning two individual titles at the conference meet. She finished her career with five AMCC titles, second-most in women's history. Bahan was named the men's Coach of the Year as well. Pitt-Bradford opened the season by finishing second at its own meet, the best showing by any Panther team in school history. The men won the 800 free relay for the first-time ever at the meet. The women placed fifth at the AMCC Championships and featured more depth than in recent years. A total of nine Panthers were named to the all-conference team. The men put together the best season in school history in 2011-12, posting a school-record eight wins. The Panthers finished second at the AMCC Championships for the second straight year and qualified a record four swimmers for the ECAC Swimming and Diving Championships. Pitt-Bradford opened the season with seven straight wins, sophomore Fernando Petrilli was named the AMCC Swimmer of the Year for the second straight year and Bahan was tabbed the AMCC Co-Coach of the Year. The women finished fourth at the AMCC Championships, led by Melinda Mackenize winning the 500 and 1650 free swims. She was also second in the 200 free and Rebecca Bowman was runner-up in the 50 free. Both the 400 medley and 400 free relay squads finished second to earn all-conference recognition. In all, 11 Panthers received all-conference honors, a new school record. In 2011-12, the men finished second at the AMCC Championships for the first time ever and seven swimmers were named to the all-conference team. Petrilli won three individual championships en route to earning high point honors and was named the Swimmer of the Year and the Newcomer of the Year. He went on to represent Pitt-Bradford at the ECAC Championships, the first ever to do so in school history. The women’s team finished fourth as Bahan was named the Coach of the Year for the second straight season. Morgan Kinville won two individual championships under Bahan’s watch, and Melinda Mackenize was a second-team all-conference performer. In his first year with the program, Bahan coached both the 2008- 09 male and female AMCC Swimmers of the Year - Cameron Lanich and Kinville. He was honored as the men’s Coach of the Year after leading the Panthers to a fourth-place finish. Bahan followed that up by leading both squads to season-high in victories in 2009-10. The men finished with four wins during the regular season while the women posted three. At the AMCC Championships, Lanich was named the league’s Co-Swimmer of the Year. On the women’s side, the Panthers finished third earning Bahan Coach of the Year honors for the second time. Prior to joining Pitt-Bradford, Bahan served as the head swim coach at the Pittsburgh Tidalwaves Swim Club from 1999 to 2007. He was the assistant swim coach and the head strength coach at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh from 1995 to 2002. Bahan helped guide the men’s squad to a fourth-place finish at the 2002 NCAA Division II National Championships. Bahan served as the head coach at Plum (Pa.) High School from 1996 to 1999. Originally from New Hampshire, Bahan was a five-time U.S. National competitor and a 1980 U.S. Olympic trial competitor. He received his bachelor’s degree in communications from the University of Pittsburgh in 1984. Bahan resided in Bradford, Pa.
