  • Hailing from Brussels, Cavens was the son of Hollywood fencing master Fred Cavens and was himself an expert at fencing. The two worked together on many films and television series until the elder Cavens' death in 1962. Cavens has been seen in such films as 1953's The Robe (starring Jean Simmons and Jay Robinson and featuring Michael Ansara and Nicholas Coster) and 1956's Around the World in Eighty Days. Perhaps his most notable work as an actor is the 1950 adaptation of the Edmond Rostand play Cyrano de Bergerac, portraying Le Vicomte de Valvert. He later reprised this role in a 1968 Broadway revival of the play, for which he was also responsible for the choreography of the swordplay. This production also featured Leon Russom in the cast.
