A neurogenic stimulator was a medical device that was used to stimulate a patient's brain by giving the cerebral cortex a direct burst of electrical energy. Normally a burst of 50 millivolts was used to create a cascade effect within the brain, causing the brain's neurons to resume their normal firing pattern. In 2371, Doctor Julian Bashir used a neurogenic stimulator during his attempt to revive the brain damaged Bareil Antos. (DS9: "Life Support")
