Hackenbeck stream originates at Hackenbeck and runs approximately 5 kilometers north and flows into the River Arle near Ffarquhar Road.
It appeared in the annual story Terence Takes a Bath, when a flood threatened to wash the bridge away. Terence is called to clear a branch out of the rushing river, only to have his caterpillar wheels dragged into the banks. Soon Thomas was called to come to his aid and they both made up afterwards. It also appeared in the Railway Series book, Thomas Comes Home. The Rickety Old Bridge and Hackenbeck Bridge cross over the stream.
