The Hereford squad was much changed from their thrashing earlier in the season, and featured former Rovers loanee Richard Rose. During the game Rovers outclassed their opponents, and ran out comfortable winners by three goals to nil. Top scorer Rickie Lambert netted twice in the first half and scored a penalty in the second, giving him a hat-trick. The win was Rovers' first ever at Edgar Street, and their only previous goal there had come in 1977, meaning that Rovers had quadrupled their all-time scoring total at the ground overnight.
