| - iScroll is the first Text Synchronized Audio (TSA) application developed for smart phones. It's a combination of both an e-book and audiobook that provides smart phone users a way to listen, read and learn on the go. iScroll is an application created by appSessions, a Maryland-based firm founded in 2008 that designs and develops applications for smart phones and iPhones. By using TSA technology created by the developers of iScroll users can read the text, as well as have the text be read simultaneously by the author or an actor. TSA also aids in a user’s ability to retain words. According to the Center for Applied Special Technology (CAST), supported reading and e-learning tools can increase a reader’s ability to learn print-related material by up to 38%. iScroll users include avid readers, telecommuters, students, publishers, as well as busy mothers-on-the-go. iScroll combines features from e-books and audiobooks for use on Smart Phones, iPhone and iPod Touch. Users can download books from the iTunes Store to read and hear the latest novels, classics, best sellers, or even be used to study for a test. As part of the patent-pending technology, iScroll has features such as fast-forward, rewind and word/phrase search that customize a user's reading experiences. Other key tools include the ability to turn audio on/off, adjust font size, color, type, line spacing, and background color, as well as the ability to have a backlight and bookmarking capability. The terms iScroller often refers to a person that is using the iScroll application. Similarly the term iScrolling refers to the act of using the iScroll application. iScroll is similar to other electronic book devices such as Amazon Kindle, Sony Reader, and iRex iLiad. However, one does not need to purchase an additional, often bulky device; iScrollers, or people who use the iScroll application, can use their existing smart phones for further convenience and cost savings.
