Christianity began in the 1st century AD as a Jewish sect, and therefore shares many religious texts and early history with Judaism — specifically, the Hebrew Bible, which Christians call the Old Testament (see Judeo-Christian). Like Judaism, Christianity is considered an Abrahamic religion. In the New Testament, the term "Christian" first appears in Acts:11:26–31: "The disciples were called Christians first at Antioch."
